INSURANCE IN SOUTH AUSTIN AND 78704: AUTO, HOME, RENTERS, LIFE AND BUSINESS

Stuart Nalewaik State Farm has served South Austin since 2014 from 210 Barton Springs Rd Ste 175, Austin, TX 78704, steps from Zilker Park and Lady Bird Lake. Our team helps with auto, homeowners, renters, condo, life, umbrella, and business insurance, plus boat, RV, and jet ski coverage, across Austin, Travis County, and Bastrop County. Same-day quotes are often available, and you can walk in and talk to a real person. Hablamos español.

WHY AUSTIN FAMILIES WORK WITH OUR OFFICE

Insurance is easy to buy and easy to misunderstand. Most of the gaps we find are not dramatic. A liability limit that has not moved since 2016. A home insured for what it would sell for instead of what it would cost to rebuild. A student who took a car to campus and nobody told the policy. A family that assumed flood was included.

Our job is to walk through your coverage in plain language, tell you what each part actually does, and let you decide without pressure. If everything is already right, we will tell you that too.

WHAT LOCAL RISKS SHOULD AUSTIN HOMEOWNERS AND DRIVERS PLAN FOR?

Central Texas has its own pattern, and coverage that ignores it leaves gaps.

Flash flooding: Low water crossings near Shoal Creek, Onion Creek, and Barton Creek can present flooding risks. Flooding is a separate policy from homeowners, and flood coverage typically has a waiting period before it takes effect, so it cannot be added once a storm is in the forecast.

Spring and fall hail: On a vehicle, hail is generally handled under comprehensive coverage rather than liability. On a home, wind and hail often carry a different deductible than your standard one.

Rebuild costs: Replacement cost is about what it would take to rebuild, not market value. Construction costs in Central Texas have moved, making this an important part of a homeowners insurance review.

Commute exposure: Daily miles on I-35, Mopac, and Highway 71 change your risk profile, and so do school zones, carpools, and game day traffic.

Extreme summer heat and storm outages: These can affect everything from roofs to spoiled food coverage.

Seasonal toys: Boats on Lake Travis, RVs, jet skis, and personal watercraft are treated differently in season and in storage.

WHAT SHOULD I REVIEW ON MY POLICY?

A short review with our team can confirm you have:

Correct drivers, vehicles, and garaging addresses on your auto policy

Liability limits that match your real daily driving, not just the state minimum

Comprehensive coverage for hail, glass, falling limbs, and theft

Wind, hail, and flood details on your home understood before you need them

Replacement cost limits that reflect today's rebuild pricing

Umbrella coverage if you have added drivers, a pool, a trampoline, or a rental property

Renters coverage for an apartment, a condo, or a student living off campus

Life insurance that reflects your family as it is now, especially after a new child, a new home, or a change in income

Business insurance that matches how your company actually operates

WHO IS STUART NALEWAIK?

Stuart established his State Farm agency in Austin in 2014 to give Central Texas families honest, straightforward insurance guidance. He holds a BS in Marketing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an MBA in Finance from Louisiana State University, and an active Texas Department of Insurance license, and he stays current on Texas insurance law through ongoing continuing education.

As a husband, father, and longtime Austin resident, he knows the local risks firsthand, from flash flooding at low water crossings to hail season to the reality of the Mopac and I-35 commutes. Outside the office he is usually at a barbecue joint, on Lady Bird Lake, or watching college football.

WHO IS ON THE TEAM?

Crissy Slovensky, Office Manager. Danny Jones, Business Insurance Manager. Liz Saenz, Account Representative.

All licensed, all local, all reachable by phone, text, or in person. We offer support in English, Spanish, and Sign Exact English, and we have more than 425 Google reviews from customers across South Austin and Bastrop. Read our Google reviews to hear directly from them.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVE?

We serve South Austin, Downtown, Barton Hills, Zilker, Travis Heights, and the 78704 area near Barton Springs Road, along with neighborhoods throughout Travis County, out toward Lakeway and Bee Cave, and into the growing east corridor around Bastrop.

Whether you are closing on a home in South Austin, renting near campus, or commuting from Bastrop on Highway 71, we can help you find coverage that fits how your family actually lives.

QUESTIONS WE ANSWER EVERY WEEK

How much auto liability coverage do I actually need?

Texas minimums are a legal floor, not a plan. Vehicle values and medical costs have both climbed, so one at-fault accident can exceed minimum limits quickly. We can show you what higher liability limits look like side by side.

My student is taking a car to college. What changes?

Where the vehicle is garaged, who drives it, and how far it is driven all matter. If the car stayed home while your student is away, there may be options worth discussing. Tell us the school and the setup and we can update it correctly.

Does my policy cover hail damage?

On a vehicle, hail is generally covered under comprehensive rather than liability. On a home, wind and hail often carry a separate deductible from your standard one. Both are worth confirming before storm season, not after.

Does homeowners insurance cover flooding?

No. Flooding is a separate policy, and it typically has a waiting period before it takes effect. If you are near a creek or a low water crossing, this is the single most common gap we find.

Is my home insured for enough?

Replacement cost is what it would take to rebuild, not what the house would sell for. Central Texas construction costs have moved, so a short review confirms your limits still line up.

Should I add an umbrella policy?

An umbrella policy sits above your auto and home liability and can provide an additional layer of liability protection. It may be worth reviewing once your household adds drivers, a pool, a trampoline, or a rental property.

How much life insurance does my family need?

It depends on income, housing costs, debts, and how many years your family would need support. A common starting point is several times annual income, adjusted for what you owe and what you want to fund, such as college. We can run the numbers in one sitting.

Is the life insurance through my job enough?

It is a good start, but it is usually tied to your employment. Group coverage often ends when you leave, and group amounts are frequently smaller than families need. An individual policy stays with you regardless of where you work.

What does renters insurance actually protect?

Personal belongings, personal liability, and additional living expenses if your rental becomes uninhabitable after a covered loss. Coverage can sometimes extend to a student's belongings at school, and a separate policy often makes sense for an off campus apartment.

Can I get life insurance with a health condition?

In many cases, yes. Options vary based on the condition and your overall health history, and there are different types of policies to consider. It is worth asking rather than assuming.

How fast can coverage start?

Auto coverage can often begin the same day, depending on your situation. You can start online, call the office, or stop by.

Do I need to tell you about rideshare or delivery driving?

Yes. Personal auto policies and commercial use are treated differently, so let us know and we will make sure your coverage matches how you use the vehicle.
